Why It Matters More Than Ever That YOUR Voice Is Heard In Hartford
Keep local control over zoning.
You choose to live in a community for many reasons, and you, not folks in Hartford, should have the last word in how that community is changed through zoning.
The Energy Madness Must Stop
Connecticut residents and businesses pay the 2nd highest electricity rates in the United States. This isn't due to anything else except bad policies that favor corporations already making billions in profits over our residents and our local businesses.
And nobody in Hartford should be trying to dictate what kind of stove or grill you use or what kind of car you drive.
Have the state fund state mandates.
It is wrong for the state to saddle communities with mandates and not also fund those mandates. Hartford keeps doing that and it needs to stop.
Reduce taxes and make CT an affordable place to live, work, play and stay.
Too many businesses are struggling or closing.
Too many families are leaving because they can't afford to stay.
State budgets have increased by almost 19% in the past 6 years.
Encourage our schools to refocus on teaching math, English, science and history.
Too many graduates can't make change, can't write a quote for a project, don't understand basic science and have no historical context for issues of the day.
End 1 party control of state government.
Our democracy works best when more than 1 party controls our government.
Give Our First Responders The Tools And Support They Need
Our first responders work, and tragically also sometimes die, to keep all of us safe. They need better support and stronger laws to protect them and re-empower them to do their job.
Hartford seems to have forgotten that victims of crime need more support than perpetrators of crime.
End hidden add-ons to important legislation.
Important changes in citizens rights must never again be hidden in a 189 page bond authorization bill.
Encourage laws that benefit and protect all of CT's citizens equally.
There are too many special interest groups taking more and more of our resources and getting special treatment at the expense of everyone else. Our laws should protect and promote prosperity and equality for all of CT's citizens.
Understand And Be Honest About What New Legislation Contains
The incumbent 2nd District Rep is boasting that he just voted to lower local car taxes by 8%, but local officials have confirmed that the reality is that he voted to raise car taxes for many residents by 50%, 100% – even 200%. To find out the impact on your car tax, go to https://bradkoltzforct.com/ctnewcartax and find out the original MSRP for your car and what that will mean for your car taxes starting next year.
CT's best days are ahead of us.
Please join me in working to make that happen!
